Estate Planning Attorney Serving Vancouver

Helping You Achieve Your Estate Planning Goals

You’ve spent your entire life building your estate and personal wealth in order to build a stable future for you and your family. But, if you’re like most people, you may not like the idea of planning for long-term disability or your eventual demise. Taking a few steps for effective estate planning now, however, can have an enormous impact on creating a stable and harmonious future for your loved ones, and Vancouver estate planning attorney John Lutgens has the experience and know-how to help you achieve all of your estate planning goals.

Experienced Legal Guidance in Planning for Your Family’s Future

Vancouver estate planning attorney John Lutgens will work with you and your family to have security now by preparing for the financial and legal issues you will face down the road. John provides experienced legal guidance with:

  • Wills and Codicils – Without a will, the assets and debts in your estate will be divided among your legal heirs per Washington state law through the costly and often adversarial probate process. John will help you draft a will that reflects the requirements of Washington law and provides for your family and other loved ones as you see fit. If you already have a will, you may create a new will or update it with a codicil. Whether you have simple or complex goals for your estate, John will make sure that your will properly achieves those goals.
  • Trusts – The purpose of a trust is to set aside assets for your family (or others), either during your life (including during a disability) or after your death, that will be distributed to your beneficiaries on the terms that you set forth. By setting up a trust, you prevent misuse of assets, protect those assets from creditors, minimize estate tax penalties, and avoid probate. John works with both individuals (including those with business holdings) and businesses to set up trusts of all sizes and scope which best serve the financial goals of those clients.
  • Power of Attorney – By appointing a representative of your choosing to have a power of attorney, you ensure that, should you become temporarily or permanently unable to handle your personal or financial affairs, someone you trust will have the legal authority to make those decisions on your behalf.
  • Advanced Health Care Directives – Should you become too incapacitated to effectively make and communicate decisions regarding your health, including end-of-life decisions, an advanced health care directive gives you the power to appoint someone you trust to make those decisions on your behalf in the future.

Over three decades of Commitment to the Highest Level of Client Service

He is dedicated to working with you on your long-term goals and providing continued support throughout your lifetime to help you continue to adapt your estate planning objectives as family and financial circumstances arise and change.
